Xiaomi just beat Tesla to unveiling a working humanoid robot prototype at a live event earlier today and it looks awfully familiar. The Xiaomi CyberOne is 177cm (5.8 feet) tall, weighs 52kg (115 pounds), is nicknamed "Metal Bro" and is also somehow given a zodiac sign, Leo.

According to Xiaomi, the CyberOne robot has arms, and legs, supports bi-pedal motion posture balancing, and reaches peak torque of up to 300 Newton meters (Nm). It can detect human emotions, has advanced vision capabilities, and can create a three-dimensional virtual reconstruction of the real world.

Xiaomi claims that the CyberOne humanoid robot uses a combination of complex mechatronics and Artificial Intelligence developed by Xiaomi's dedicated robotics division - the Xiaomi Robot Labs. Despite the product being in its first generation, the company says it has spent a sizable amount of resources and manpower to develop the CyberOne. While developing any bionic robot comes with its share of complexities, things become inherently more complicated if the robot in development is humanoid.

In the video below, CEO Lei Jun debus the robot taking small quick steps as it walks on stage handing the CEO a flower. The robot commented that Jun was taller than it thought and said the flower was for him. In the demonstration, the robot said that it had just learned to walk but that its lower body is still not stable. Although, it is also learning Kung Fu.
