Alarm.com has announced a new device for anyone worried about visitors catching COVID-19 from, of all things, their doorbell. Rather than using a button, the Touchless Video Doorbell is designed to chime when its camera detects visitors standing on your doormat. Alarm.com claims this is the "first commercially available video doorbell that rings without requiring any contact," and that its aim is to "reduce public health risks and make home visits and deliveries safer for all." That design eliminates the need for anyone to physically press a button, and the built-in camera and microphone let you talk with them through your phone without opening the door. That's a pretty sensible idea, and a good fit for anyone who's spent the past ten months disinfecting their doorstep whenever a package or a pizza gets dropped off. Beyond this unique feature, all the essential smart doorbell options are on board. A 150-degree vertical field of view gives you that head-to-toe aspect and 1080p Full HD resolution, HDR imaging, and infrared night vision make sure you'll be able to see who is there no matter the light levels. There's also two-way talk capability, as well as live video and saved clip viewing on the Alarm.com app or website. As an integrated part of the expansive Alarm.com ecosystem, the Touchless Video Doorbell can automatically trigger other device activity through user-defined rules.
