Netgear introduces 4G LTE Orbi tri-band mesh WiFi router

Netgear is showing today at CES 2020 in Las Vegas a tri-band model with a CAT18 4G LTE modem built in. The Orbi 4G LTE WiFi Router (LBR20) with integrated CAT18 cellular modem supports internet speeds up to 1.2Gbps and works with a SIM card from major 4G LTE cellular network providers. The sleek and modern design with its high-gain internal antennas will reach up to 2,000 sq. ft. of WiFi coverage and can be easily extended by pairing with any Orbi WiFi 5 (802.11ac) satellite to create a mesh WiFi system.

The dedicated WiFi connection between the 4G LTE WiFi router supports seamless 4K streaming and gaming everywhere in a home. With the single WiFi name, you can take advantage of uninterrupted connections as you roam from room to room . The Orbi app makes it easy to get started with better WiFi everywhere no matter where your home is located, and the app also enables management of the Orbi network.

Orbi 4G LTE Whole Home WiFi router is expected to be available in April of 2020 for a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD.

Another router worth mentioning is the Nighthawk AX8 (CAX80). With a built-in DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem that delivers multi-gigabit internet and four times the capacity to handle more WiFi devices with next-gen WiFi 6, Nighthawk AX8 is the first to combine these two leading-edge technologies in a retail package.

The Nighthawk AX8 is here to enable consumers to stream, game and browse more than ever with 2.5Gbps Multi-Gig Ethernet ports and 4 Gigabit Ethernet ports for wired connectivity support with endless options for a blazing-fast internet connection With the Nighthawk Mobile App, set up is quick and easy and management of the home network can be done from anywhere. The auto firmware update feature makes security updates uncomplicated and does not need to involve your service provider.

Nighthawk AX8 WiFi 6 router will be available this month from approved retail vendors for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $429.99 USD.

Netgear also announced the Nighthawk M5 5G WiFi 6 Mobile Router (MR5200). It is designed to provide faster internet speeds with low latency over WiFi 6 and 5G. These two technologies combine to keep the entire family's devices connected to 5G over the WiFi 6 network with the capability to stream HD video or play online games simultaneously. The Nighthawk M5 mobile router is also suitable for mobile business staff on the go, from commuters to road warriors – a secure, reliable and personal WiFi connection, essential to carrying out your daily activities. The Nighthawk M5 Mobile Router is designed to deliver a mobile lifestyle at its fullest potential or to be used as an alternative or backup option for home internet with the gigabit Ethernet port.

With the option to connect the M5 Mobile Router to an existing home router, through the 1Gbps Ethernet port, the Nighthawk M5 brings 5G speeds into a home network and can also be set up as a fail-over option for uninterrupted internet. The router includes a long-lasting lithium-ion battery, which is removable when used in a stationary location such as a home or office.

The Nighthawk M5 mobile router with 5G connectivity and WiFi 6 will be available in retail channels in the second half of 2020, pricing will be announced at time of availability.
