Huawei might release a foldable phone next year

It turns out that Samsung is not the only company to develop a foldable phone. Huawei may release a foldable Android smartphone as early as next year, according to its Chief Executive Officer Richard Yu.

Currently, Huawei's foldable phone has two screens with a "small gap" between them. Unfortunately, there are no other details on this phone right now.

"We already have a working sample," Yu said. "We have two screens," Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei's consumer business group, said. "But we still have a small gap [between the screens]. That's not good, and we should get rid of that gap."

Huawei isn't ready to launch the device yet. First, the product needs better, more flexible screen technology, as well as better mechanical design.

Other manufacturers that have been reported to be releasing a foldable phone include Samsung with its Galaxy X and ZTE with its recently unveiled Axon M.
