After the fiasco with its Galaxy Note 7 phone, Samsung now has plans to release a foldable smartphone in 2017.

Dutch tech site galaxyclub.nl discovered a patent application filed to the Korean patent office by Samsung, and it appears to show renders of Samsung's long-rumored foldable smartphone, or "Project Valley."

The described device has a screen that bends and folds like an old-school flip phone handset. It is expected to be "folded or unfolded semi automatically." A second display is also mentioned in the document. It is supposed to activate when you fold the device.

The front of the handset features the classic Samsung Home button in between a Back button on the right and a Menu button on the left, the latter having been retired years ago. The Project Valley smartphone might be marketed under the name Galaxy X.
