A new international trade association called the WhiteSpace Alliance(TM) has been formed with the goal of enabling the emerging worldwide WhiteSpace ecosystem to deliver cost-effective broadband solutions, and support products and services that use WhiteSpace spectrum. This goal will help the Alliance to address the needs of greater than half the world's population that does not have affordable, high-speed Broadband internet access today. The WhiteSpace Alliance, www.WhiteSpaceAlliance.org , will create a successful marketplace across many regulatory domains using these large TV WhiteSpaces to provide internet connectivity. The WhiteSpace Alliance has initially adopted a solution based on the groundbreaking technology which received the prestigious IEEE Emerging Technology Award. This new IEEE 802.22(TM) technology utilizes the exceptional transmission characteristics of WhiteSpaces to provide broadband wireless access over a large area up to 100 km from the transmitter. This technology delivers up to 29 Mbps per TV channel, and with over 40 available channels can deliver more than 1 Gbps capacity. Read more -here-
