Zeus Trojan is evolving to hit Paypal-like targets

The Zeus trojan, a malware threat that is best known for stealing banking information by means of keystroke logging, is moving on to different targets.

Instead of targeting banking customers through drive-by downloads and phishing, it is now going for online payment providers, according to the insecurity firm Trusteer.

Trusteer has detected that Zeus is targeting firms like Money Bookers, Web Money and Nochex, all of which offer online payments over the web. The Zeus Trojan steals login information as well as other sensitive information from web users.

This could lead to payments being made to accounts belonging to money mules, which will lead to big trouble for these stupid unfortunates while the real brains of the operation run laughing into the night with the cash.
