Mutated Android Trojan spotted in the wild

Android smartphones seem to have an increasing demand in the circle of cyber criminals. This is the third time when scammers try to make troubles for Android users.

Kaspersky stated that the new widespread malware is called the Trojan-SMS.AndroidOS.FakePlayer.a which reminds of a legitimate and ordinary media player. However, as soon as this player is installed on your phone, without the knowledge of the owner it sends text messages.

According to Kaspersky researchers, when this Trojan starts overtaking your smartphone, you might have problems as you see your phone bill. Because it sends fake messages using your account, keep in mind what applications you install on your phone.

In order to keep away from troubles like this, you should pay attention to services required for installation. In the beginning of 2011, Kaspersky is also planning to release Mobile Security for Android.
