Virgin Mobile announced that it would begin offering the Novatel MiFi hotspot alongside its prepaid 3G broadband plans. Now the Sprint-owned prepaid carrier says that "it will ditch the data cap on its priciest "Broadband2Go" plans, meaning you can surf and stream as much as you want for $40 a month, without a contract."

Any of the two broadband devices: the $79 Ovation USB dongle, or the portable, $149 MiFi 2200, a two-ounce mobile Wi-Fi hotspot will allow to share the 3G connection with up to five nearby Wi-Fi devices —laptops, iPods, Nintendo DS or Sony PSP.

Virgin Mobile's new $40 unlimited plan, which will go live by Thursday will replace a trio of capped Broadband2Go plans ranging from $20 to $60 a month, with the priciest $60/month plan offering 5GB of monthly data. There is also one $10-a-month plan for 100MB of monthly data.
